One more step under the shuttle
The main points in 30 seconds
Why shots drift sideways: a contact point at your side and a plant foot that isn't under the shuttle.
- Start turning the body before the shuttle reaches the contact point: turn first, then hit.
- The contact point is in front of your eyes, not at your side. At your side you drag the shuttle and it drifts.
- The right foot goes to where the shuttle will land: get under it by one more hand's width.
- Plant the foot once you've seen the shuttle; the landing point is clear when it crosses the net.
- Don't jump on both feet out of habit: without a weight transfer there's no power.
