A smash without a big swing
The main points in 30 seconds
Smash power is the racket-head speed at contact, not the size of the swing.
- As the body turns, press the shuttle down with the racket head — it drops together with the shuttle.
- The racket head goes forward before the arm. If the arm is already in front, you're late.
- Relax the grip from the start of the swing, not during it: a tight grip pulls the shoulder forward.
- A big swing adds nothing: only the moment of contact has to be fast.
