The main points in 30 seconds

The right way to each corner, for singles and doubles. The coaches say learn this first.

  • Front forehand corner: directional split step, chassé and lunge. Back out with the same movement in reverse. Count 'one-two-three'.
  • Front backhand corner: split step, pivot on the non-racket leg, lunge.
  • Always lunge on the racket leg, heel to toe; knee over the foot, body and head upright. The foot lands just before you hit.
  • Rear forehand corner: split step, chassé, sideways to the net, then a scissor-kick jump. Land with the feet wide.
  • Best tip: keep the legs bent all the time and push off with both legs, not only the racket leg.
