Backhand: contact at eye level
The main points in 30 seconds
Backhand basics: racket in front of the eyes, waiting for the shuttle, contact at eye level.
- Keep the racket in front of your eyes and follow the shuttle: where the eyes go, the racket goes.
- Don't lunge at the shuttle: wait and judge the distance. Shuttle to the side — step to the side, not forward.
- Contact at eye level: meet a high shuttle there, get lower for a low one.
- Once you've taken the racket back, hold it and hit; the arm doesn't wander before contact.
- Arm and take-back first, then the step: rush the foot and there's no room to swing.
