Backhand clear: let the racket go
The main points in 30 seconds
Why the backhand clear falls short: a squeezed racket and starting too early.
- On the backhand keep the racket high, as on the forehand — don't drop it.
- Don't hop or rush: find the contact point, wait for the shuttle, then start.
- The racket is your eyes: shuttle, gaze and racket move together.
- After the take-back the arm stays still; the hit is a released racket falling by its own weight.
- Don't reach up for the shuttle — the body tenses. Let it drop to your contact point.
