Doubles defence: feet and racket
The main points in 30 seconds
Doubles defence basics: where the feet go, where to hold the racket and how low to get.
- A right foot that stepped forward comes back — otherwise you can't reach a shuttle on the right.
- To get lower, lean the body forward, don't just bend the legs.
- A drive is a push forward, not a chop down: every swing goes forward.
- In doubles wait with the racket up, head at eye level: a dropped racket leaves you only the lift.
- Low shuttle — get low fast. Pick a reply — drive, block or lift — and drill at least one.
